Timing on Recording

Click! Recorder captures screen shots automatically at the following moments.

  • When you press or release mouse button.
  • When you press and release TAB, ENTER or ESC key.
  • When check box or text box is changed.

For other cases, press PrtScrn key to explicitly capture screen, or Alt + PrtScrn key to capture active window.
Old versions of Windows may not detect changes in check boxes or text boxes.

Tips on Recording

  1. Proceed the step one by one and check the captured sound.
Too fast operations may result loss of text or screen shots.
  2. Use mouse for operations you can do either by mouse or keyboard.
  3. Use clicks for operations you can do either by two clicks or drags.
Like when you choose a menu command or an item in dropdown menu. Click on a menu, point to a menu item and then click again.
  4. If Click! Recorder fails to record names of menus or buttons, listen to capture sound to finish before releasing mouse buttons.
  5. Windows 2000/XP can capture more information than Windows 98/Me.
  6. Click! Recorder keeps all information on memory for smoother recording. This design may cause out of memory or resources when you capture long operations. Try to avoid long operations. Save and File - New to start new document where possible.

Refer to "About Record Capacity" below for details of maximum recording capacity.

About Record Capacity

Click! Recorder keeps all information on memory for smoother recording. This design may cause out of memory or resources when you capture long operations.

The maximum capacity depends on your environment. Please try following methods when you encounter capacity problems.

  1. Windows 2000/XP has more memory and resources capacity than Windows 98/Me.
  2. More colors require more memory. Try to reduce colors like to 256 colors if possible.
This improves screen shots quality if you are saving to web pages (saving in GIF format).
  3. Make your application's window smaller to capture more steps.
  4. Enlarge your virtual memory to capture more steps.
Refer your Windows help topics for how to enlarge virtual memory.
When you encounter performance problem by enlarging virtual memory, adding memory may help performance.
  5. Reduce the number of screen capture per step in Options.
  6. Saving in Rich Text Format uses more resources than other formats. Refer to Rich Text Format Tips.
